We are TheGathering@TheTable Family Kitchen where we all can come and be fed body and soul. As a community we strive to take down the boundaries that separate us and come together for one common purpose, to eat and be satisfied. Together, neighbor serving neighbor, we connect, we laugh, we learn, we share, and we partake. All are treated like family and all become family. 

 

There is something amazing that happens when we come to the table. At the table, we are all equals who have come because we are hungry. We come with a need, a fragility, an admission of what it means to be human. When we come to the table all our striving stops, we pause and meet a need. At the table, our masks can come off and we simply nourish ourselves, like little children allowing someone else to meet their greatest and most immediate need. But that’s not all that happens at the table. While we feed our bodies, we also feed our souls. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once said, “A single conversation across the table with a wise man is better than ten years mere study of books.” We learn at the table- more about each other, more about the world, and more about God. We forge connections that will carry us through the days and weeks ahead. We share burdens, fears, stories, lessons, and laughter. We all become one. 

 

Each week on Monday evenings, we gather together and enjoy homecooked meals prepared by our volunteers from the generous donations of the Milford community. Volunteers from multiple churches and groups come together to serve each other after the example from Christ. Romans 12:13 says “When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.”  Love invites us to move outside into the neighborhood.
